2017 Dove Singers Cast Information

Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 9th, and will be held in Hooksett, 14 Mammoth Road (see directions below).

Each rehearsal will begin promptly at 7:00, and will end at approximately 9:30 (until the last week or two, when we will probably run late).

Registration on January 9th will open at 6:00 PM. Please come early, if you can, to streamline the registration process. If you would like to prepare ahead of time, you may download a registration form (see below) and complete it before you arrive that evening. Please use a separate form for each member of your family.

There are several solos, for a variety of voices; and there are narrations for a number of different people. All soloists and narrators can be choir members; narrators could also only be narrators (if there are some non-singers who would like to participate).

As always, we particularly need to recruit high sopranos and men. For some reason, those are generally the hardest parts to fill, so please carefully consider those wonderful singers that you know and bring them to the first rehearsal with you. (And, of course, we can always use more good singers on the Alto and Second Soprano parts, too!)

*****Former Dove Singers who would like to participate but cannot make a commitment to the full rehearsal and performance schedule are invited to sing with us for the finale – “The Hallelujah Chorus.”  Those who would like to do this should memorize the song (you can get copies of the written music and a parts track from us, if needed) and plan to come at 90 minutes before the performance to rehearse with the full choir and figure out staging, etc.******

Each rehearsal will begin promptly at 7:00, and will end at approximately 9:30 (until the last week or two, when we will probably run late).

Performances will be given on Saturday and Sunday, March 18th and 19th, and again on Saturday and Sunday, March 25th and 26th   One of the Saturdays may be an afternoon performance.

Participants will be responsible for purchasing books ($14, which includes all three of the added songs) and a full CD ($10) and/or Parts CD ($3), to assist in learning the musical.  In addition, we are again requesting a $5 donation from each person ($10 per family) to help defray the costs incurred by Emmanuel Baptist as they host our rehearsals.  If possible, please bring your payment for these items to the first rehearsal.

Registration on January 9th will open at 6:00 PM.  Please come early, if you can, to streamline the registration process.  If you would like to prepare ahead of time, you may download a registration form on our website (scroll to the bottom of this web page) and complete it before you arrive that evening.  Please use a separate form for each member of your family.

Important:

The most effective way for us to reach the community (both to find new members to fill the needs outlined above and to bring people to our performances) is for each person who is involved to take the initiative to advertise our rehearsals and performances at their church and among their family and friends.  Please take this seriously, and make the time to be sure that you are getting the word out to potential members.  Here is a sample announcement that you could use:

The Dove Singers will begin rehearsals for their Spring 2017 production of “Known By The Scars” on Monday, January 9th.  Rehearsals will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hooksett, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM, and will continue through March 20th.  Performances will be held on March 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th.

This year, which marks our 40th anniversary presenting Christian musicals in NH, will be the final year for Dove Singers, so if you’ve ever considered joining, this is your chance!

“Known By The Scars” tells the story of Jesus’ final week on earth in a fresh and exciting way, using narration, song, and dance.

Former Dove Singers who would like to participate, but cannot make the full commitment are welcome to come and sing “The Hallelujah Chorus” with us at the end of each performance.  See our website for more details about participating in this way.

The Dove Singers is a non-denominational Christian ministry, dedicated to presenting the Word of God through music, drama, and dance.  In recent years, we have had 90-120 people involved in the group, from more than 50 different churches, and you are invited to join us for this year’s inspiring musical.  We are always looking for additional singers, actors, dancers, orchestra members and techies, and encourage any interested Christians to come on Jan. 9th and learn more about the group.

You may contact Gayle Troy (gtroy@travelin.com; 774-4663), or go to our website:  www.DoveSingers.org, for more specific information.

(NOTE: Feel free to insert your own contact information as well – many of your church friends will be much more comfortable contacting someone they know instead of going to a non-personal website!)

The Dove Singers is a Christian ministry, dedicated to presenting the Word of God through music, drama, and dance. Because of this, each of us has a spiritual responsibility to behave in ways that demonstrate the love of God, encourage the other participants, and further the goals of the group. Specifically, each participant agrees to:

  • Attend all rehearsals. Absences that have not been authorized in advance (except for genuine emergencies) are not acceptable, and will indicate to us that you can no longer participate in the group.
  • * Acknowledge the responsibilities of the leaders of the Dove Singers, including the Directors, Group Leaders and others in positions of authority.
  • Diligently study and practice between rehearsals, to be prepared each week. This includes memorizing music and/or speaking parts on schedule.
  • Respect the differing, and thoughtfully held, Christian beliefs of participants from other denominations and types of churches.
  • * Assist the group by volunteering to serve, as God has gifted you, and by regularly and consistently praying for the ministry of the Dove Singers.

This Commitment is between you and God. Please pray about it and thoughtfully consider whether you can make the commitment to be in Dove Singers for 2007. Your presence at rehearsals is an acknowledgement that you are in agreement with the terms of this Commitment to Ministry.

Attendance: Please check your calendar and be sure that you can attend the scheduled rehearsals and all four performances. Limited exceptions (which must be approved in advance by me) are made for business trips, family vacations, and missions trips, but you must otherwise be committed to attend all rehearsals and performances in order to participate in Dove Singers.

Please copy this form as often as needed for your friends and family, and complete one per person before you arrive. Please print neatly. (You may also write out the requested information on a separate sheet of paper, if that is easier!)
